UPDATE: One person dead and four wounded after an active shootout at YouTube’s headquarters. According to San Bruno’s police chief, the alleged shooter was a female. The suspect was found deceased at the scene of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The four victims sustained gunshot wounds, none of them life threatening.
An active shooter was reported to be on the scene at YouTube‘s headquarters in San Bruno, California, according to local news sources and Twitter feeds from various YouTube employees.
No firm details or police reports have been solidified yet, but Vadim Lavrusik, a product manager at YouTube who works on YouTube Live, tweeted that he heard gunshots, saw people running while he was at his desk and then barricaded himself in a room with coworkers. He tweeted a follow-up saying he had been evacuated.

Local TV station KRON4 reported that multiple 911 calls have been made in response to the active shooter. The San Bruno Police have also tweeted about the active shooter and have warned people to stay out of the area. Police told Hollywood Reporter senior staff writer Ryan Parker that YouTube HQ is “a very active scene.”

Sources tell ABC7 News “multiple people have been injured, including a shot to the chest. There are no reported fatalities at this time.”
They continue, “A spokesperson for Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital confirms they’re receiving patients from the shooting at their facility. They added patients are also being transported to other Bay Area hospitals.”

But California has some of the strictest gun laws, and YouTube HQ is a “Gun Free Zone” 🙂
