Your EDM Premiere: Duke & Jones – TUSK (Blanke Remix) [Deadbeats]

Duke & Jones is a new artist to the Deadbeats label – in fact, the duo has hit the ground running in 2018 with releases on Circus and Thrive, as well. But their release on Deadbeats, “Tusk,” is getting an official remix pack tomorrow, March 28, and we’ve got the first exclusive premiere here on Your EDM.

When listening through all the remixes available, one stood out the most: Blanke. Blanke’s last few releases, including remixes of Virtual Self and Boys Noize and originals with Avance and ZEKE BEATS, have all pushed forth the same kind of distorted, heavy bass sound being championed by artists like 1788-L, Rezz, or Isqa. The same is the case with his remix of “Tusk,” which is dirty and gritty and in the best ways.

The melody and vibe of the original is captured and repeated in the intro of the remix, though that all crumbles at the might of Blanke when the drop hits. The minimalist trap sound is replaced by a heavier and more in-your-face sound design, along with some new melodic bridge elements.

This remix is sure to appeal to some more than the original, but there would be no remix without the original concept from Duke & Jones, so don’t knock it either. Check out Blanke’s remix below and be on the lookout for the full remix pack tomorrow!
