Getter Fuses Dubstep, Metal & Hip Hop On One Track On “Colorblind”

getter getter

Getter has come a long way from his Firepower Records and Trenchlord days, that’s for sure. His experiments in other sounds began (publicly) in 2015 with Planet Neutral, and have only snowballed since then. Last year saw the debut of his rap alias Terror Reid, and we know we can expect multiple albums from Getter in 2018, including a metal album.

Lucky us, we get a preview of his metal side on his new track “Colorblind” which serves as the ultimate chimera of all of Getter’s personas, blending dubstep with metal with hip hop in seamless fashion, featuring his owl vocals and impeccable lyricism and songwriting.

Perhaps most astonishing is the switch from hip hop to metal, as it’s done so cleanly you almost have to do a double take, and rewind the track to figure out what just happened.

This is undoubtedly one of Getter’s most raw and open songs, hitting on topics of self-esteem and mental health. One of the more poignant lines, and the namesake of the song, goes, “They say the grass is always greener on the other side, but every time I try I go colorblind.”

Clearly Getter is reaching for the moon in 2018 and he’s already hit the stars. We honestly can’t wait to see what else he has in store for this year, especially if it’s at this level.

And speaking of albums, Getter revealed that “Colorblind” will be on one, along with “Solo,” and around 10 others. He’ll be trying to get it out around May.
