Your EDM Premiere: Drake – God’s Plan (Thoreau Rework)

Drake put out a two-track EP on January 20 called Scary Hours, containing the song “God’s Plan,” which already has 135 million streams on Spotify, if you had forgotten the power of Drake. The original is a breezy and light hip hop jawn with powerful lyrics, providing that exquisite juxtaposition so prevalent in all his music.

If the production is maybe a little too light for your EDM tastes, Thoreau has you covered. Drake’s vocals are actually covered by Thoreau himself, while the production is beefed up with some whimsical synths and a more driven percussive beat. The whole track is completely original, providing an entirely new perspective on Drake that wasn’t there before. And honestly, we’re feeling it.

Every time I listen to this track, I fall more and more in love with it. Check it out below.
