Even though the Grammys just finished up its 2018 awards ceremony, it’s time to look north. The Canadian JUNO Awards just announced their 2018 nominations, celebrating the best of Canadian artists and releases from 2017.
This year’s JUNO Awards nominations highlight artists like The Weeknd, Daniel Caesar, Arcade Fire, Alessia Cara and other Canadian favorites. While EDM artists such as deadmau5 have been nominated for the general categories in the past, this year’s general categories only feature Daft Punk in the form of The Weeknd’s smash single “Feel It Coming” for Single of the Year.
But, the dedicated electronic and dance categories show love to several Canadian EDM artists. Sultan + Shepard, Felix Cartal and DVBBS are nominated for Dance Recording of the Year. For Electronic Album of the Year, Rezz, Kid Koala, Dabin and Blue Hawaii stand out as nominations. Felix Cartal also pops up as a nomination for the Jack Richardson Producer of the Year award for his tracks “Get What You Give” and “Drifting Away.”
