Matroda Is Ready to “Shut It Down” with Monstercat Debut

If you’ve never listened to Matroda before, it’s time for that to change. The aspiring producer has been catching some serious attention throughout the last year for his mind-blowing brand of bass house, which takes a very minimal sound and blows it up to epic proportions.

Matroda’s hard work and dedication to music production has earned him releases with numerous big-name labels, including Spinnin’ Records, Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak and – most recently – Monstercat.

Having – sadly – discovered Matroda only weeks ago through his remix of deadmau5′ electro house classic “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” (and concurrently binging his entire discography), I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out he would soon be debuting on my favorite cat-themed EDM label.

While his flips have undoubtedly been my favorite content Matroda has put out, his originals are generally great too. His Monstercat debut – “Shut It Down” – is no exception to the rule. The track’s deep, grimy bass lines and growling, pitched-down vocals are enough to mentally transport listeners to the club, but its falling synth lines make it more-than-adaptable for festivals as well.

With Monstercat generally not placing much emphasis on bass house music, the label could definitely use a few strong artists in that genre. Needless to say, we hope Matroda sticks around for a while.
