While tens of thousands will be at the NOS Events Center for Insomniac’s annual Countdown NYE festival this weekend, there will be those of us who choose a more acquired fare… I’m speaking of course of Dillon Francis’ IDGAFOS NYE VIP Experience.
Dillon Francis is taking over the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with Team EZY, Valentino Khan, Whethan and Yung Pinch. He’s created his own ball drop, and there are loads of special VIP activities for fans to explore within the venue while they’re preparing to bring in the new year – tickets are still available here.
Check out our interview with Dillon below.
Most DJs will be spending the night jetting around the country (which you actually will be doing on the 30th) or playing festivals when the ball drops, but you’ve curated your own event. Was this the plan all along or did you want to do something special for the hometown fans?
I’ve always done shows in December at the Shrine, but I wanted to do something different this year, so I came up with The IDGAFOS NYE Experience. I’ve recently rarely ever been able to celebrate the New Year in my hometown of LA so this is gonna be a crazy first for me, and I got some amazing talent to join me on stage.
Speaking of ball drop, you concocted your own sort of “ball drop.” What kind of planning went into setting that up?
I’m lucky to have a great LD and team who helped me put together LA’s first ever ball drop. I can’t wait to share that with everyone at the countdown. ITS GONNA BE A LITUATION!
You mentioned recently that you’re finishing up your Spanish-language album, which is quite exciting. Will we be hearing some new music on New Year’s Eve?
I’m so excited about my new music. If you’re at the IDGAFOS NYE Experience your gonna get to hear some new, upcoming songs!
To someone unfamiliar with you or your work, how would you describe the “IDGAFOS NYE Experience”? Please be colorful with your adjectives.
It’s going to be a fun af, loud af, and amazing af! We have some great celebrity impersonators booked who you’ll be able to take pictures with all night, a Gerald’s friends petting zoo, and some other fun surprises. Basically it’s going to be VIP af.
Do you normally have a family New Year’s Eve tradition?
We usually just like to be together and bring in the new year as a family. More recently that usually ends up being at one of my shows!
Any resolutions for the new year?
I’d like to finally share my new album with all of you!!!!!
