Daft Punk has made no secret of their love for sampling, but this mashup is miles ahead of anything we’ve heard before. It just so happens that their song “Digital Love” and Earth, Wind, & Fire’s “September” are in the same key and bpm… and when you put them together, magic happens.
The discovery was made by u/24qunta on Reddit, who wrote, “I put the two together to see what it would sound like side by side. This is what I got. I made absolutely no changes to the pitch or tempo…”
What he got was a mashup that sounds like it could have just as well been the original mix – the vocals and instrumental match up perfect, even in the chorus and bridge. It’s actually quite spectacular.
