Run Away With Taska Black In New Exclusive Interview

Rising through the ranks of the production community, Taska Black has become a name to watch in the future melodic community with his impeccable production style that is both unique while being masterful in quality. Finding a home with San Holo’s imprint bitbird, Taska has continued to release immaculate tracks which fill you with all blends of emotion. Just off his release “Running Away” with fellow bitbird act DROELOE and featuring CUT_, we sat and chatted with Taska about his end of 2017 and what’s in store for the future!

You just put out a new single on Lowly Palace, can you talk about your experience branching outside of bitbird for the first time?

bitbird is very much ‘home base’ to me and putting out tracks with San and the guys has always been super amazing. A lot of bitbird fans know who I am by now so I felt it was time to branch out and introduce my music to new groups of people. Releasing “Nothing Lasts” on Lowly Palace was a great opportunity for me to see how different fan bases react to my music. Plus, Trap Nation has been a fan for a long time so it was good to team up formally on something!

Nothing Lasts just topped the HypeMachine charts, congrats! Can you talk about the process of how that record came together?

Most of the time I start messing around with chords on the piano and sometimes I find something interesting. That’s how I came up with the chord progression for this record. I started humming a melody over those chords and from there I wrote the lyrics. Initially, I tried to sing on the record myself but when I received the demo from Pauline Herr I felt she was the one for this song so I kept her on.

You’ve been incredibly prolific this year with a good mix of official remixes and singles and even a new collab with DROELOE! What can we expect to hear more of specifically next year?

Yes, very excited about that! I’m working on a lot of music for next year already. Working with vocalists is definitely something I really enjoy doing. I’m trying to implement different aspects of pop music in my tracks while still maintaining my sound. The fun thing about releasing so much music is that you get to know who you are as an artist, explore different sounds and find out what it is you want to do long term. I’m still trying to figure that out, but i think fans will see and hear me develop as an artist and writer throughout next year with every release.

Talk about your collaboration with DROELOE, how did that come about?

When I heard their first single “Make My Day” on bitbird I fell in love with their sound. I’ve been a fan ever since and I was really excited to get into the studio with them. They had this short idea for a track laying around and we decided to work on it together. We finally wrapped it up while the guys were on tour and we’re excited to put this one out!

How did you first get discovered by bitbird?

Two years ago I sent them some demos, one of those was “Right Now.” They loved that record and decided to put it out. bitbird wasn’t a full grown label back then, more of a promotional SoundCloud platform still, so it was a little bit easier to get in touch with them than it is now. Since my first release they’ve been very supportive, I feel very lucky to be a part of the family.

What has your experience with bitbird and specifically San been? Can we expect to hear you guys collaborating in the future?

From the moment I started producing as Taska Black, bitbird has been there for me. Through bitbird I got to know San who truly believed in my music. He partly convinced me to start doing music for a living, and eventually that’s what happened. He’s a very inspiring guy to be around and I’ve had the chance to work on some things with him so you might see our names appear on a track together in the near future…!

Can we expect to see you touring in the US anytime soon?

That’s definitely the goal. I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say here but we do have a few dates confirmed in both US and Europe for next year, but there’s definitely more to come though! My agents are working super hard on filling some dates and I’m super excited about how all that’s coming together.

If you could play any three festivals in the world what would they be?

EDC, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland.

With his US debut seeming to be upon us in 2018, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Taska Black as he continues to astound with his brilliant production stylings. Check out his track with DROELOE below and keep up to date as he gears up for more in the coming year.
