Axwell Λ Ingrosso Ruin Their Best Progressive House Anthem In Years

Axwell Λ Ingrosso are two names that resound throughout the dance and electronic music genres. Known as pioneers of progressive house both as individual artists and as Swedish House Mafia, it would make sense for fans to desire four on the floor anthems from this duo. I mean, they’ve even released several under the new Axwell Λ Ingrosso brand in the past.

It makes even more sense that this is what fans want when you take into account that Axwell Λ Ingrosso literally debuted this song as a progressive house single at AMF in 2016. Don’t believe me? Listen below…

Now, the release day has finally come and with it a watered down, cheesy future bass “drop” that isn’t even well executed and completely destroys the anthemic qualities of the original version of “Dreamer” that they played out. Check it below if you must.

If people liked this new version more, it might make sense. But from their social media to Reddit and back again it truly seems that nobody likes this version of the song.

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

Hell, I could go all the way to Exhibit Z if I wanted; the available examples are truly innumerable. But, I think Exhibit B is most important. It truly seems that the undeniably talented Swedish duo don’t care what their fans want. I’d have no problem with this if, and only if, they didn’t get everyone’s hopes up by playing out the gorgeous progressive house version of “Dreamer” that they originally did.

Why get their hopes up? Is it pressure from management or their label? Do they simply want to cater to the least common denominator and only worry about Spotify streams?

Unfortunately, I don’t have an answer for you. But, if I ever get the chance to sit down with the legendary pair for an interview I can assure you I won’t leave without one.

Until then, let’s hope adding the voice of Your EDM to this cry against their watering down of such a truly fantastic original helps in some way, shape or form.
