G-Eazy, Mariah Carey & More Now Accepting Cryptocurrency For Merch

Depending on who you choose to keep company with, there’s a good chance that you’ve seen your friends posting more about cryptocurrency in the past couple weeks. After Bitcoin breached the $10,000 mark, public interest in these currencies has skyrocketed even higher than it was before.

With (likely) dozens of “coins” out there for you to invest in, the subject can seem daunting. 3LAU made a beginner’s guide to cryptocurrency which you can read here.

One of those currencies is called “Monero,” a currency that is specifically privacy-focused, according to Crypto Coins News. While most coins are traded, sold, and bought within discrete wallets and exchanges, etc., Monero has gone a step further and opened up its own marketplace: Project Coral Reef. The crypto-coin is abbreviated XMR.

While such a brazen move might normally be seen as foolhardy, the project has the support of over 35 A-List celebrities and artists who will sell their merchandise on the platform, including G-Eazy and Mariah Carey.

“As cryptocurrencies become more popular, it’s important that my fans have choices when it comes to how they buy my songs and merchandise,” said G-Eazy in a statement. “Given Monero is one of the safest, most secure and most private cryptocurrencies, it’s one of the best options for my fans this holiday season.”

Find out more about Project Coral Reef here and see a list of all participating artists here.
