Dropout’s “No Scrubs” Cover Gets The Perfect ’90s-Influenced Music Video

Dropout’s Latin-flavored, modern interpretation of the TLC hit “No Scrubs” is easily one of our favorite tracks of the year. Between Wendy Sarmiento’s luscious vocals and the flamenco guitar in the drop, the cover bridges musical worlds all while making it sound absolutely incredible.

The music video for the track is somewhat of the polar opposite – rather than intricate production and wildly creative arrangement, it’s a rather simple setting with lights, dancers, and Wendy front and center. That being said, it does exactly what it intends to do. The production on the video perfectly mirrors the ’90s aesthetic that was so prevalent when the original “No Scrubs” was first released in 1999, while giving it a modern flavor thanks to some new video effects and editing techniques.

I’ve listened to this track probably more than I would care to admit, but I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. And now that there’s a visual element to it, you can probably attribute another couple hundred plays to me today.
