Legendary festival T In The Park announced on its website today that it will be taking at least the next year off to reorganize, reevaluate, and plan accordingly for the years to come.
The festival began in Scotland in 1994 as one of only two music festivals in the UK. The scene has now blossomed, but T In The Park remains a legendary fixture in the UK and around the world. However, various changes in the past 3 years have made planning the festival excessively difficult and it has become too much of a burden on the fans.
T In The Park was forced to move from its location in Balado, Kinross in 2015. During set up at the new venue, the festival was informed by Scottish Government Ministers that a protected osprey’s nest was on the premises, and they’d have to apply for additional permitting. Between the excessive red tape, paperwork, logistic and financial constraints, and lack of control of the overall site layout, organizers are taking a year off. Their reasoning is that it is better to not have the festival for a year and come back stronger than to have a potentially negative impact on fans.
