Last night, BTS made music history as the first South Korean boyband to perform at the American Music Awards in their U.S. television debut — and the group made a big statement in doing so!
If anyone searching #AMAs on Twitter didn’t know of BTS before, they were certainly made aware during the awards ceremony as the entire hashtag flooded with posts from the boyband’s army of superfans. The Twitter frenzy also took over #BTSxAMAs.
After an energy packed performance of their song “DNA,” BTS completely won America over. According to New Straits Times Online, the pop sensations became the number 1 searched item on Google, with over one millions searches in the U.S. alone.
Jared Leto, who took the stage directly following the BTS performance, said it best, “I need a moment to recover from that performance. That was incredible!”
The boyband consists of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — watch their AMA performance and learn more about them in the video below!
