Either Forbes released the 2017 list late or the 2018 list early, but next year’s 30 Under 30 for Music have just been announced. Once again, EDM makes a singular entry on the list. Whereas last year it was Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers (Alex Pall was not included), this year it is Marshmello.
Having just published a sort of “expose” on Marshmello’s identity, Forbes isn’t even trying to mask it anymore. In the artist’s bio on the feature, it reads, “Born Chris Comstock, Marshmello is one of the world’s highest-paid DJs thanks to more than 170 live shows in 12 months and a bigger take-home on music and merch than other DJs.”
Other artists on the list include Cardi B, Joe Jonas, Lil Uzi Vert, Migos, and Mike Posner. However, artists aren’t the only ones featured on the list; it’s also open to managers, agents, and others involved in the musical process. Phil Quist of Creative Artists Agency, sound engineer Kesha Lee, Matt Meyer of Paradigm, and Drew Silverstein, co-founder of Amper Music, were all included, as well.
