New Artist Spotlight: After Huge International Success, Sereda Releases New Single ‘I Got You’

Alley Sereda, a classically trained vocalist from Toronto, was trying to decide what to do with her musical career when she was contacted by French house producer Richard Orlinski. He asked her to send him one of the songs she was working on, and suddenly “Heartbeat” was number one on the French Billboard house charts as well as on iTunes for the genre. Now Sereda is embarking on her solo career from Los Angeles with her new single, “I Got You.”

It will be interesting to see if the style in “I Got You” will be one that Sereda sticks with, as it’s quite different. It seems her voice and songwriting are versatile enough to work with a multitude of genres, but when it comes to her own style on this track, it’s pretty specific. Listeners will definitely get a bit of a K Flay vibe here in terms of the subject matter and the way Sereda arranges the syncopation of the vocals against the trap-inspired beat. Her vocal quality, however, it much more clear and well-pitched compared to a K Flay or a Tove Lo. The track itself, while firmly in the EDM wheelhouse, has quite a bit of hip hop and R&B influence as well as a decent amount of pop cache, so it stands to reason that Sereda is more than a one-trick pony when it comes to production and musical style.

Sereda is definitely one to watch for winter and into next year because of her talent and her technical prowess. Having already established herself in the EDM world, it likely won’t be long before her solo tracks are heard on dancefloors just as much as her “Heartbeat” collab with Richard Orlinski.

“I Got You” is out now and available to stream on both Soundcloud and Spotify.
