You know that episode of How I Met Your Mother when Katy Perry guest starred, and the characters only knew her by the phrase “Oh, honey…” because she was just so naive. Yeah… we’re going to have to start using that phrase with the Dixie Chicks‘ lead singer Natalie Maines for this one.
Though it was first posted on her Instagram in early October, it has flown under our radar until now – it seems that Maines covered up an old tattoo on her big toe on her right foot with Bassnectar’s bassdrop symbol, thinking it was a symbol meaning “strength,” possibly of Greek origin.
Oh, honey…
This is why you do your research before getting a tattoo, let alone a symbol which has a completely different meaning than you think. At the very least, the bassdrop symbol does have a wildly positive meaning, but it still seems that Ms Maines has inadvertently inaugurated herself into the basshead family. And it seems that people are giving her a warm welcome.
