Skrillex Earns Highest Bass Act On DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2017

Skrillex holds strong at No. 16 on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2017 list and his placement speaks volumes! However, this marks a significant drop for him from a Top 10 spot at number 9 last year.

While OWSLA‘s fearless leader has been quiet this year as far as lineups go, he has been doing work in the studio. His system — laying relatively low, playing some very special events, producing day in and day out, and dropping collabs like there is no tomorrow — has earned him a rightful spot highest bass act on the chart.

Skrillex only stepped on the scene to play a select few shows this year, including Zedd’s ACLU fund-raiser, Burning Man, FORM Arcosanti, and two legendary Dog Blood sets at HARD Summer and to close down NYC’s Webster Hall. He also reunited with his emo band From First To Last for a memorable night in music.

So, maybe it’s not about quantity, it’s about quality.

Or, maybe it’s both considering he released a slew of collaborations with Habstrakt, Poo Bear, Vindata, DJ Sliink x Wale, Ty Dolla $ign, and Sirah, plus dropped some monstrous remixes for Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” and Ekali’s “Babylon.” And that’s just scratching the surface on his production ventures.

If we’re talking about killing the game, which we are — Skrillex has done just that in 2017.

Check out our full breakdown of the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs 2017 here.
