Ed Sheeran Reveals A Surprising Past With Substance Abuse [DETAILS]

Ed Sheeran has reportedly revealed a past of substance abuse, which ultimately resulted in him taking a year off from music.

Although Ed Sheeran was noticeably absent from the spotlight for quite some time, everyone just assumed the pop star was laying low, working on a followup to his wildly successful 2014 album x (multiply). Years later, he certainly brought forth his best work with ÷ (divide) — but Ed Sheeran’s reality after riding the waves of sudden fame was much darker than he let on.

According to People, the musician finally explained what was really going on during an episode of The Jonathan Ross Show that has yet to air.

Speaking on his personal rise to fame, Sheeran said:

“I think you need to, when you get into the industry, adjust to it — and I didn’t adjust because I was constantly working on tour. And all the pitfalls that people read about, I just found myself slipping into all of them. Mostly, like, substance abuse.”

He added:

“It’s all fun to begin with, it all starts off as a party and then you’re doing it on your own and it’s not, so that was a wake-up call and taking a year off.”

We’re so glad Sheeran seems to be back on track. Tune in for The Jonathan Ross Show this Saturday to hear the singer’s full account.
