Game of Thrones Cast Member Hints Final Season Won’t Premiere Until 2019

It’s going to be a long winter… and another long winter… because apparently HBO’s Game of Thrones will not be premiering its eighth and final season until 2019!

During a chat with TV Guide, actor Liam Cunningham aka Ser Davos Seaworth spilled the beans on the production timeline:

“[The episodes are] definitely going to be bigger and what I hear is longer. We’re filming right up until the summer. When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes.”

So, there we have it — Game of Thrones plans to film “up until summer” with “longer episodes.” Just speculating, but factoring in post-production with this timeline means fans are most likely won’t see another new episode of the binge-worth HBO show until 2019. And with each episode priced at $15 million per episode, the crew will be taking their time to make sure it’s perfect.

Along with his fellow cast members, Cunningham faces the possibility of being killed off the show at any point, so there’s no telling exactly when he’ll be done filming. Until he meets his fate, his life is GOT.

“You basically put your life on hold when you start shooting,” he explained. “Yeah, HBO owns your ass.”
