Aaron Richards Drops His Own Take of “Alive” by Streex

If you’ve never heard of Streex before, we honestly don’t blame you. The Razihel-fronted EDM/pop-punk hybrid duo’s greatest claim to fame is their remix of Marshmello‘s “Alone” (which sadly wasn’t even the most commercially successful track on the remix EP), with their “L’Amour Toujours” remix falling not far behind. The several thousand fans that did keep a close eye on the project – however – should fondly remember “Alive,” the duo’s euphoric debut single.

Unbeknownst to most, Aaron Richards – the vocalist most widely known for his various pop music covers and Monstercat features – was originally considered to be the featured vocalist for “Alive” months before the song got an official release through Spinnin’ Records. Sadly, Richards’ vocals ended up getting scrapped in the final version, being replaced by a more fitting pop-punk topline.

Fortunately, Richards has decided to bless our ears with his take on “Alive” to celebrate the track’s one-year release anniversary. Though the original wasn’t bad by any means, Richards’ vocals give the track a lot more depth and emotion, in addition to a whole new set of lyrics. If you weren’t big on the original, this one might even change your mind!
