Electronic producer Moonlight Matters is currently basking in the success of ‘Until The Next Time,’ a simply gorgeous musical collaboration with the iconic 90s band Texas. Whilst you check out the single below, be sure to read on to see what makes this artist tick…
Thanks for speaking to us; it’s great to have you! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself as an artist… what are your main values?
Thanks for having me, guys! The pleasure is all mine! I’ve been making music for a while, going on eclectic endeavours in my home studio since I was 16. I’ve done a lot of productions for other people, been in collaborative projects/bands but Moonlight Matters has always been present in my musical landscape. I’ve had the pleasure of working on music/remixes with/for Texas, Adele, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Ellie Goulding, Mark Ronson and many others and I’m now focusing on some of my own music. My main values… I guess if it comes from the heart, it’s all good.
What are some of the most important lessons you’ve learned along the way? If you could give your younger self starting out any advice, what would it be?
Only make the music that you are really into, that moves your soul, that comes naturally. It will always be the best. The best piece of gear is your mind and your creativity… oh, and don’t underestimate momentum. 
Do you remember what first got you into wanting to create music? Was there a specific track?
I grew up with straight dark techno and had been playing those records since a very young age, but it wasn’t until I heard Daft Punk’s ‘Homework’ that I was determined to start the venture in making sounds… so thanks, guys! Never looked back since.
Which of your tracks have meant the most to you and why?
I’ve done some remixes and with many amazing artists and I’m very fortunate and thankful to be given that chance! Getting to discover how they look at music from the inside is a very humbling experience and valuable lesson. The track that stands out the most for me at the moment, apart from my new single (wink wink) is a bootleg I did for Ben Howard’s ‘The Fear.’ It’s not only the most played track on my Moonlight Matters SoundCloud but I remember doing the track just because I wanted to be able to play it out in a more club-orientated environment. I uploaded it not expecting it to be any kind of success, but hours later the play count just blew up like crazy. Now, that’s a nice pat on the back for my musical ego, but the most valuable lesson I learned from this experience is that, if the music is good, that’s all it takes… You don’t need a label, PR, management, and whatnot to make you succeed in music, the power needs to come from within.
Congrats on a wicked new track – what makes this one different to your last?
I think that for this one, while wandering off in a slightly different direction on the previous single, it is a return to my original signature sound. And of course, working with Sharleen on this one helped to make it very special to me… She’s amazing!
How did it happen that Texas came on board? Would you want to work together again in the future?
It was my manager at the time who sent Sharleen the track, 2 days later I got the vocal and the rest is history. I was blown away that, firstly she wanted to work with me, and second because of the amazing job she did. She’s a machine! We haven’t decided on any other right now, I guess that will depend on how the single does.
If you could name three artists/groups who have influenced you the most throughout your career so far, who would they be?
There’s so many of them, thank god for that! Can I do four? Daft Punk, Aphex Twin, Moroder and Vangelis.
What do you have coming up for the rest of the year that you can share with us?
I’m working on a lot of different stuff for Moonlight Matters and some other projects… I hope to be sharing another single with you guys soon!
