See How The New iPhone 8 & 8 Plus Fare On A Drop Test vs. Samsung’s Note 8

With the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus now available to general consumers, one feature has users concerned: the new glass back. Yes, it allows for wireless charging, but at what cost? Apple claims it’s “the most durable glass ever in a smartphone.” And that may be true, but does it actually help to prevent cracks from normal every day falls?

YouTube channel SquareTrade, Inc. put both the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus to the test alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to see which one holds up the best under pressure (so to speak).

The results of the test, shown in the video below, reveal the iPhone 8 to have the lowest breakability score, coming in at 67/100, showing medium risk. The iPhone 8 Plus comes in a bit higher, scoring 74/100, denoting medium-high risk. Finally, the Note8 scored the worst out of the three phones, with 80/100, a “high risk” of breakability and complete loss of function following a fall.

So no matter how durable your manufacturer claims their phone to be, it’s never a bad idea to get a phone case.

See the tests done in the video below.
