The unexpected Burning Man death has people talking, and Skrillex has weighed in on the unfortunate subject…
In the video below, the producer responds gracefully to a paparazzo’s question about the man who ran into the fire at Burning Man, and whether he thinks the beloved gathering will be affected. As Skrillex points out, this isn’t the first time someone has died after running into flames on the playa, but that doesn’t make it any less troubling.
“It’s tragic man… you have 70,000 people and you got a couple of people that maybe did too many drugs, or have a reason, or this and that,” Skrillex says. “A lot of things could happen out there, and that’s partly what makes Burning Man special. You have very little presence of law and people are there to be self-reliant, self-responsible, and self-expressive.”
“It’s a tragedy that happened,” he reiterates, but “the majority is a very free, expressive place.”
