If smashing the Spotify 24 hour streaming record, previously held by Ed Sheeran, wasn’t impressive enough for you then I’m sure you will be once I tell you that Taylor Swift also went that extra mile shattering the YouTube 24 hour streaming record as well.
On Spotify, the pop superstar amassed over 8 million streams in the first tracking day. As mentioned, Ed Sheeran held the previous record racking up 6,868,642 streams in the first day “Shape Of You” was released.
Her margin of victory on YouTube was even more dominant with the lyric video for “Look What You Made Me Do” watched a mind-boggling 19 million plus times in just the first day. The record was last held by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay whose joint record “Something Just Like This” attracted 9 million views in the first day on its lyric video.
Congratulations are certainly for Miss Swift but it looks like the records might continue to roll in with the official music video for “Look What You Made Me Do” set to premiere on the 2017 MTV VMA’s tonight.
