NGHTMRE and Carmada have been teasing their inaugural collaboration on social media for months, and today the two powerhouse acts finally unveil “Embrace” featuring Xavier Dunn.
Dunn’s vocals are at the forefront of the track from the very beginning, controlling the vibe and emotionality of the track while NGHTMRE & Carmada’s production sits patiently in the background, awaiting the considerably more volatile drop. And when it hits, you’re probably going to be taken aback by the heavy distortion and off-kilter rhythm.
The second drop of the tune is much the same as the first, but the track finally reaches a crescendo in the final drop when the drop you might have expected at first is ultimately unleashed. The swinging rhythm of the melody conjures up comparisons to RL Grime or Flume, but this is all NGHTMRE and Carmada.
“Embrace” marks production pair Carmada’s return to dance music after a two year hiatus, having released the widely acclaimed Realise EP on OWSLA in 2014. Their last release was a Major Lazer remix in November 2015. They are slated to unveil a new EP at the end of this year.
