In this day and age you can buy almost everything you need from Amazon.com — whether it’s music, movies, clothing, supplies, home goods, or even groceries… Now, the electronic commerce giant is tapping into entertainment in a powerful way.
According to a report from Reuters, Amazon is seeking to partner with venue owners across the United States to sell event tickets for music acts and sports teams. It’s likely the company would cut out ticketing fees for more competitive pricing, which means concert, sporting, and even festival tickets could be a lot closer to face value for fans.
Live Nation Entertainment Inc.’s Ticketmaster site is the primary ticket seller for many top venues, which is the toughest competition Amazon.com faces in terms of ticketing.
Amazon’s massive customer base, tech-forward thinking, and bargaining power could be exactly the right recipe for ticket sale domination — if the company chooses to pursue this ticketing venture. This isn’t a new idea however, as Amazon has had it’s sights set on ticket sales in other countries for the past couple of years.
