You might not recognize the name GG Magree right off the bat, but if you’ve heard Zeds Dead’s album Frontlines, you’ve definitely heard her work. She collaborated with Zeds Dead and NGHTMRE on “Frontlines” and now she returns to drop her first official single “One by One.”
There’s actually a lot going on in this track, so let’s break it down. It starts off completely silent, slowing building into GG’s own vocals. The shakers slowly come in, building depth and variety in the beat. Suddenly, it breaks into a high-energy bridge as the track prepares to drop. “One by one by one,” GG repeats. The drop is a wild meld of dubstep and quasi-Eastern synths that are pitched and modulated to great effect.
GG Magree shares about the track, “‘One by One’ is the track I always wanted to introduce myself to the world with as a solo artist! This baby really represents everything I’m about creatively and the journey I want my music to take people on. I’m so excited that it’s come to life!”
