Makoto is indubitably one of drum and bass music’s pioneering figureheads and is know universally for his multilateral contributions to the music scene. Whether it be one of his four past studio albums or one of the countless classics we still keep on heavy rotation, it’s safe to say this legend has more than made his mark.
Just recently, he’s announced the massive release of his fifth studio album, this time with powerhouse label Hospital Records. The album itself is laced front to back with some of the best tunes I’ve heard in years and I can say that with absolute confidence. Featuring 14 magnificent renditions of his own artistry, Makoto has smashed this one out of the park.
“I’ve known DRS for almost 20 years and I have always wanted to work with him, and then I finally got the chance with ‘Salvation’ being the result. I think it sounds different from both our usual styles in a really good way and I hope you guys enjoy it.”
“Salvation” is an incredible collaboration with arguably one of my favorite MC’s, DRS. It’s a moody roller, with the signature characteristic soulful sound that both of these artists call home. If you think this is as good of a tune as I do, just wait.
The entire album is set for release on September 1st.
