Set your phasers to hype! Avicii has just teased his first new music since 2015’s Stories (not counting his 2016 track for Coca-Cola).
Posted on Instagram against a backdrop of Machu Pichu, Avicii writes, “New music coming (very) soon!” along with a variety of hashtags, presumably relating to track titles. The song in the Instagram post is undoubtedly the first hashtag, “Friend Of Mine,” featuring powerful vocals and a distinctly folksy timbre.
Avicii announced his retirement from shows and touring in March 2016, and his absence has been felt at festivals ever since. However, he’s taken the time to find his sound again and regain his health, and so we support him 100% in his endeavors – especially if it means new music. 
Earlier in the year, Avicii would go live on Instagram to stream studio sessions with songwriters and engineers.
