Odesza have already released four singles out of their forthcoming 16-track album, A Moment Apart – today, we get the fifth, “Higher Ground.”
Immediately differentiating itself from all previous singles, “Higher Ground” demonstrates a more restrained production in intensity and sound, producing an almost retro feel in playback. All sounds bleed into each other like porous stone, mixing together and creating something elegantly beautiful. Naomi Wild’s voice especially croons above the subtle melody and drums, acting as the glue to keep the track together.
“Higher Ground” is already receiving heavy praise from Odesza fans as a return to their sound from In Return, albeit more polished and, well, newer.
