Holograms Can Now Fit In Your Pocket Thanks to New Smartphone

This might sound crazy, but before Tupac showed up at Coachella 2012 to perform with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, I had no idea what a “hologram” even was…

Snap to 2017 and we can keep them in our damn pockets.

The Hydrogen One Android OS smartphone is the world’s first holographic media machine, offering up holograms with no glasses needed. The new device is available for pre-order now, and expected to ship Q1 of 2018 — if you’re willing to ditch your iPhone and drop $1195 – 1595.

Not that we’re doubting RED, known for its excellence in video equipment that helped shoot films like The Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Great Gatsby and The Social Network… It’s just one of those things that we have to see to believe. Currently, all we can see of this holographic smartphone are 2-D images and specs.

The Hydrogen One’s technology will also convert “stereo sound into expansive, multi-dimensional audio,” making for an exceptional audio experience, even through headphones. Bonus for music lovers!
