Residents of Downtown Miami Call For Ultra & Rolling Loud To Move From Bayfront Park

Each year, Ultra Music Festival and Rolling Loud Music Festival descend upon downtown Miami and take over Bayfront Park. The two festivals are months apart, with Ultra in March and Rolling Loud in May. All of this contributes to a lot of time spent building up and taking down stages and equipment, and residents of Miami are apparently tired of it.

The Miami Downtown Neighbors Alliance began a petition to have both festivals moved from Bayfront Park three weeks ago, and is currently on its way to 1,000 signatures.

The main argument from the petition is that their access to a public park has been greatly diminished by private events.

“We, the residents of Downtown Miami and its neighboring communities deserve to have daily access to Bayfront Park – our neighborhood park,” the petition reads. “Instead, since the beginning of 2017, Bayfront Park has been closed to the public or in a state of disrepair for over 100 days because of mega-concerts like Ultra and Rolling Loud.”

While petitions on Change.org are largely ineffectual, they can be representative of larger public support on niche issues. Whether this ends up becoming a problem for either Ultra or Rolling Loud will be discovered in time.
