Goldie Accidentally Reveals That Banksy Is Supposedly The Lead Singer of Massive Attack

Since Banksy first popped up with his provocative street art twenty years ago the world has long waited for the mysterious identity of this artistic caped crusader. Yesterday, thanks to a major gaffe by Goldie, it looks like the cat’s out of the bag – Banksy is actually Robert Del Naja the lead singer of Massive Attack.

Check out Goldie’s exact quote from an on-air interview with Scroobius Pip below and we’ll go from there.

Give me a bubble letter and put it on a T-shirt and write
“Banksy” on it and we’re sorted. We can sell it now. No disrespect to Robert, I think he is a brilliant artist. I think he has flipped the world of art over.

While he never actually referred to who Robert really is fans and media alike believe he’s referring to Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack who’s been suspected of being Banksy in the past. Robert actually has an artistic side having spent some time doing graffiti across the UK in the 80s in similar circles with ironically, Goldie. It’s also worth noting that Goldie caught his error and quickly switched the topic to jazz music but unfortunately for him the internet never forgets.

Journalist Craig Williams conducted a thorough investigation into Banksy before fingering Robert Del Naja as the leader of Banksy which he dubbed “a team of street artists,” rather than one single artist, last year. Robert Del Naja has since denied rumors that he is Banksy, or at the very least a member.
