Police Investigation Underway For Body Discovery Near Firefly Music Festival

Delaware State Police are currently investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains over the weekend, nearby Firefly Music Festival.

Although little is known at this point, DSP revealed a festival attendee stumbled upon the remains in a wooded area about a half-mile from the festival entrance at Dover International Speedway. There’s no word on if this was casualty was related to anyone directly attending the festival, but given that human remains were found, as opposed to a body, it’s possible the person died a while ago.

One news outlet, Delaware Online, went as far to interview those attending the festival to get their input on the morbid news. It’s a little strange, but given the situation it might be something you’d want to know about as the police investigation is underway.

Kyla Beckvermit, an 18-year-old from Cornwall, New York. told Delaware Online: “I’m extremely surprised. I’m definitely concerned. It would have been nice to know.”

Her friend Gabby Wheeler, a 24-year-old from Wheeler, New York, was more intrigued than alarmed.

“I watch a lot of missing people videos on YouTube. If they said it was skeletal remains, that probably means the body has been there awhile. But, it’s weird that it was so close.”

Anyone with any information in reference to this incident is asked to contact Detective D. Blomquist at (302) 698-8426. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333, via the internet at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”
