Calvin Harris Is Bringing Disco Back With “Feels” ft. Katy Perry, Pharrell & Big Sean

I think I just realized why all the singles from Calvin Harris’ new album Funk Wav Bounces, Vol 1 have been appealing to me so much: it’s the return of I Created Disco. Hear me out… the tracks are definitely more polished with more high-profile guests, but if there was any track to really help me come to this realization, it’s his newest single “Feels” with Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and Big Sean.

The track starts off with some distorted guitar a la Dire Straits and quickly moves into a bouncy, piano-fueled section with vocals from Pharrell. Katy handles the choruses, and Big Sean comes in during a sudden switch-up about half-way in.

Calvin’s track with Katy, which turned out to be “Feels,” was rumored to be a Taylor Swift diss track based on Katy’s history with Taylor. Well, based on Big Sean’s verse, that really seems to be the case.

Goddamn, I know you love to make an entrance
Do you like getting paid or getting paid attention?
You mixed the wrong guys with the right intentions
In the same bed, but it still feel long distance
She’s looking for a little more consistency
But when you stop looking you gon’ find what’s meant to be
And honestly, I’m way too done with the hoes
I cut off all my exes for your x and o’s
I feel my old flings was just preparing me
When I say I want you, say it back, Parakeet
Fly in first-class through the air, Airbnb
I’m the best you had, you just be comparing me to me
Imma ‘at’ this at you, if I put you on my phone
And upload it, it’ll get maximum views
I came in through in the clutch with the lipsticks and phones
Wear your fave cologne just to get you alone

It’s a little surprising that no part of the diss was sung by Katy, but she likely had a part in the writing of the track nonetheless. Check out “Feels” below.
