The Chainsmokers faced some intense backlash last year after some probably ill-advised comments about one of Lady Gaga’s singles from her album Joanne. Though Alex Pall was only speaking his opinion on “A-YO,” Gaga fans went, well, gaga over them and responded with ferocity.
“It sucks,” Pall said of the track.
Gaga’s response had far less bite than it could have, but instead showed off her class and decorum when dealing with haters.

The Chainsmokers recently appeared on the Howard Stern show, and of course, the Gaga beef came up as a topic of discussion.
Pall said during the show: “We’ve since reached out to her and explained, because it was really taken out of context. We were talking about how much we respect her as an artist and everything she’s done but that I’m just not a fan of her new song. Of course it came out just so much worse.”
“I felt bad. I don’t think it’s cool to make those sort of judgments anyway. Keep it to yourself,” he added. “That was a lesson on my part for a lot of reasons. I’m 32 now, and no one’s given a shit what I’ve said for 30 years of my life, not a single fuck has been given.”
Of course, now that Alex and Drew are megastars in the media world, they’ve had to come to terms with a little more media scrutiny.
