Reports Of Severe Lightning Temporarily Shut Down Summer Camp Music Festival

Music festivals, if all goes according to plan, should be sunny and warm with a light breeze, the perfect weather for any occasion (but particularly for festivals where you’ll be dancing your fanny off). And while we’ve seen weather derail a festival before, it’s fortunately fairly uncommon.

Unfortunately for the attendees of Summer Camp Music Festival in Illinois this afternoon, the festival was shut down due to severe weather and thunderstorms. Some attendees even report others were hit by lightning, though they seem to be okay.

According to SCamp’s Twitter, stages were down for approximately two hours before being reopened.
