Lowly Palace is a label that seems to do no wrong. Their latest release, “Overdose” by Lady Bee is an extremely well written, emotional song that happens to feature one of my favorite vocalists – Oktavian.
Within the first 3 seconds of the song I was drawn in. The combination of melancholic chords and Oktavian’s vocal blended perfectly, and stayed interesting throughout the entirety of the first break. Building into the songs climax, call and response vocal chops playing over stuttered chords provide the listener with the release of tension from the pre-chorus, soothing our ears. This original truly showcases the writing strength of Oktavian, and Lady Bee’s tastefulness when it comes to providing a sound bed for her vocalists.
