At Least Six UK Music Fests Will Allow Drug Testing this Year

In an effort to help festival-goers party more safely, six UK music fests are allowing drug testing at their events this year.

Joining the support of local police forces, Reading and Leeds Festivals and other music events are taking action after a number of drug-related deaths.

Melvin Benn from Festival Republic, who works Latitude, V Festival, Wireless and other events for Live Nation, expects drug testing to be allowed on site “between six and ten festivals this year.”

Testing tents will tell people exactly what drugs they are dealing with, thanks to an organization called The Loop — it’s founder stated: “It’s really exciting that police are prioritizing health and safety over criminal justice at festivals.”
