After “Chained To The Rhythm” and “Bon Appetit,” Katy Perry is back once again with another track from her forthcoming album Witness, due out June 9. This time, she’s collaborated with Nicki Minaj on “Swish Swish,” produced by Duke Dumont.
The track is being heavily reported on as a Taylor Swift diss track, with hashtag phrases like “Can’t touch this” and “I stay winning,” not to mention repeated lyrics from the oft-sampled “Star 69” by Fatboy Slim.
So keep calm, honey, I’ma stick around
For more than a minute, get used to it
Funny my name keeps comin’ outcho mouth
Cuz I stay winnin’
From a dance music perspective, the production is just basic enough to make it work in the pop realm, especially with Katy’s uninspired lyrics.
