Calvin Harris‘ new album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 isn’t even out yet, but it already has a big industry critic…
Deadmau5 took to Twitter give his opinion, particularly as it pertains to the mass of featured artists on the forthcoming release.
Here’s that list again: Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Kehlani, Future, Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, Big Sean, John Legend, Khalid, Migos, Schoolboy Q, Ariana Grande, Young Thug, D.R.A.M, Nicki Minaj, Lil Yachty, Jessie Reyez, Partynextdoor, Snoop Dogg.
While some people can’t wait for these collaborations, Deadmau5 is less than enthused…
anyone ever remember when calvin harris was just… calvin harris? who the fuck are all these other people? like… why?

If you can see through the snark, Deadmau5 does have a point. But, he didn’t stop there.
fucking hate watching what i love to do get raped by popular culture for the sake of selling stupid shit for stupid people.

im not anti-collab. works well when it works well. but fuck, some of this shit just reeks of "i gotta do this to stay on top" not "art". https://t.co/n5u8gdxzrk

Again, we get the point here, but maybe Harris enjoys making music with popular artists. Maybe they’re all artists in their own right, too. Just maybe.
I don't need handouts nor do I feel the need to cling onto people with commercial success to make me feel like I'm better at what I do.

nothing new here. just your typical sellout rant about people who obviously know how to pander shit for the sake of capitalism. moving on.
