Compared to 125 arrests during the first weekend of Coachella, an additional 27 were arrested the following weekend making it 152, and bringing the total number of arrests up to 277.

According to Indio police, most arrests were a result of drug possession during each weekend, but alcohol, thefts and fake identifications also played roles.

During the second weekend, police say 76 people were arrested on suspicion of possessing or selling drugs. Another 37 arrests were for alcohol-related offenses involving minors with fake IDs or people providing minors with alcohol.

There were 25 arrests involving public intoxication and seven people were arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Six people were arrested on suspicion of pick pocketing cell phones, and one person was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats. That incident happened outside the polo club on a city street, according to police. A local resident who was armed with a gun threatened a security guard, police said, but other details weren’t released.

Two hundred people received citations for unspecified driving violations and 98 people were cited for illegally using placards for disabled people.

This year’s arrests are up slightly from the 2016 music festival.

Last year, police reported 128 arrests during the first weekend. That was followed by 142 arrests the following weekend.
