Odesza Just Dropped Another New Single Hours After Their First In 3 Years

Odesza dropped their first single since 2014’s In Return this morning, and already they’ve just dropped another.

While the first single garnered many comments with similarities to The Chainsmokers, in so far as it had a poppy, future bass sound with chopped vocals, “Late Night” features more similarities to M83 than anything else. The sparkly synths and funky guitar present a side of Odesza that we haven’t seen before, and it’s refreshing to say the least.

While we weren’t expecting their new material to sound exactly like In Return, this is still pretty far departed. That being said, their strength lies in tying sounds together in a cohesive way, so it will be interesting to see how these songs fit into the larger scope of their forthcoming third album.

“We hope both old and new fans will enjoy these as feel-good summer songs,” says Knight on ODESZA’s new releases. “We’ve spent the past couple years constantly re-working our sound, and growing as musicians,” explains Mills of the duo’s recording process between the road and the studio. “This new music reflects us building a grander, more cinematic sound.”

Listen to “Late Night” below, as well as their other single from this morning, “Line Of Sight.”
