Last night, The Chainsmokers touched down in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a sold-out performance at the city’s PPG Paints Arena. Coming as a stop on their recently unveiled debut album Memories… Do Not Open, the show ended with a personal sign-off from the duo about the fantastic energy of the city.
Unfortunately, as Drew and Alex praised the town, the banner behind them displayed a misspelled version of ‘Pittsburgh.” Trib Live posted a review of the performance, noting the excruciating moment in all its discomfort.
“The full band version of the song was met with much applause, before being dampened with a misspelled ‘Thank You Pittsburg’ sign that came down at show’s end. It was obviously unfortunate, but even more so because Taggart made it a point to talk about how great the city had been to The Chainsmokers and not every city was as enthusiastic as Pittsburgh.”
The Chainsmokers took the misspelling in stride, posting an acknowledgement on their Twitter shortly after.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, the tweet has been taken down.
