Monstercat Releases Polarizing Music Video for RICCI’s “Boom”

Last September, the Brazilian house wizard RICCI made his debut on Monstercat with the Candyland collaboration “Touch Me,” a massively club-friendly future house track that packed some serious punch. Seven months later, RICCI is back on the label with his solo debut “Boom,” an even grittier house track with, well… a bit less pop appeal.

As a song alone, “Boom” definitely isn’t the most experimental thing Monstercat has released, but the music video for the track taps an artistic direction the label has never touched before. In the video, artist Raspa Lingua combines collage and drawn art styles with trippy colors and unsettling character design, making for one of the straight-up creepiest, most unconventional videos we’ve ever seen.

While the wackiness of the video makes the song much more compelling to us, not everyone would seem to agree. As of today, the song reigns as Monstercat’s most disliked YouTube upload to date with 22% dislikes compared to likes, beating out the reigning champion, “Stickup” by Karma Fields MORTEN.

Whether you like it or not, “Boom” is definitely causing some buzz. If you enjoy the track make sure to support with a download or stream here.
