“In the space of two minutes people went from dancing to the acid being thrown,” an unnamed witness describes the horrific incident that went down at an East London nightclub yesterday morning.
Hundreds of people were evacuated from Mangle E8 around 1 am BST, when a very strange attack erupted on the dance floor. A man had directly sprayed 2 club-goers with acid, and injured up to 16 others who also suffered burns.
A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said an “unknown corrosive substance” had been thrown. “It was identified by a pH paper test as a strong acidic substance,” she said.
The attack leaves two in critical, but stable, condition at the hospital, while the others were treated for minor injuries. No arrests have been made, and the incident is currently under investigation.
