We thought that Gorillaz would only be dropping one track today… well, we were wrong. They dropped four: “Ascension” ft. Vince Staples, “We Got the Power” ft. Jehnny Beth of Savages, “Saturnz Barnz” ft. Popcaan, and “Andromeda” ft. D.R.A.M.
Each track is accompanied by its own custom art and visual overlay, giving off a very unique and familiar vibe for the Gorillaz universe. “Andromeda” is a definite call-back to the Plastic Beach era of Gorillaz, whereas “Ascension” and “Saturn Barz” utilize some more modern innovations in music.
The hype is real as Gorillaz have announced their album Humanz will be out April 28, featuring Grace Jones, Vince Staples, Danny Brown, Pusha T, De La Soul, Kali Uchis, Kelela, Mavis Staples, Jehnny Beth from Savages, D.R.A.M., Popcaan, Jamie Principle, Kilo Kish, Anthony Hamilton, Peven Everett, and Zebra Katz.
