With the recent alleged leak of the Gorillaz tracklist from their forthcoming album, four new tracks have seemingly found their way online for fans to find. Note – these are not just secret tracks up for discovery, but legitimate leaks. It’s likely that they’ll be found and taken down soon, so if you know where to look, you can find them.
The first is “Submission” feat. Danny Brown & Kelela, which starts off with some suspenseful chords and choir backdrop. Kelela provides some ambiance vocals while Danny’s bars play merrily atop the production. The version in the leak probably isn’t the full track, which just makes us even more eager to hear the whole thing.
Next up is “Charger,” featuring vocals from Grace Jones, which was a demo ripped from Vimeo. Beginning with some distorted guitar licks and an ominous vocal, the track definitely has a lot of potential for remixes. There’s only 70 seconds in the ripped demo, as well.
So far, from these two tracks alone, we’re seeing a much different Gorillaz than we’ve seen in any of their previous albums, putting way more emphasis on the production and electronic fusion.
The next track is their collaboration with Popcaan, “Saturnz Barz.” This one features a unique blend of Middle eastern rap, á la Matisyahu, and distorted EDM production. This is also the closest thing to a completed track that we’ve heard in the leaks so far, and definitely our favorite of the bunch.
Last but not least, “Busted and Blue” is a full 4 minutes and 40 seconds long – a completed track from the album. Finally we see a bit of a return from the classic Gorillaz, with understated vocals and a melancholy melody, played atop minimal percussion.
