Spotify teamed up with clothing brand North Face this week to release a brand new track from Austin-based band White Denim called “No Nee Ta Slode Aln.” What makes the release special, however, is that it can only be listened to when it’s raining in the area you’re listening from.
Spotify is reportedly using a geotagging service that searches for live weather updates around the world. If rain is in the forecast, the service unlocks the White Denim track for listening. Otherwise, it’s completely hidden from view.
As The Verge mentions, this decision is likely a gimmick meant to sell North Face’s new Apex Flex GTX jacket. Despite not being able to listen to it where I am, 30 seconds of the track can be found via the jacket’s Youtube trailer below.
